Faucaria tuberculosa (Large)

Faucaria tuberculosa (Groen & Hansen): Chunky, triangular leaves with distinctive, bumpy or "tubercled" surfaces. This subspecies has a variable appearance and some individuals have gentle teeth with tendrils lining their leaves. It is a compact, clumping species from South Africa and it produces large, dandelion-like blooms from late summer to fall that open each afternoon and close by nightfall.

Soft succulents will not survive a hard frost, but if there is a risk of freezing temperatures they can be brought indoors to grow on a sunny window sill or under a grow light. They need ample sunlight, great drainage, and infrequent water to prevent rot.
