Kalanchoe humilis - Desert Surprise

Desert Surprise (Kalanchoe humilis) (Britten): A small sub-shrub with attractive foliage stripped with burgundy to purple blotches. This species is native to Mozambique, Malawi, and Tanzania where they grow in rocky crevices and can reach 3.0' tall. It is a forgiving grower and thrives on a sunny window sill or outdoors in frost-free climates.

Soft succulents will not survive a hard frost, but if there is a risk of freezing temperatures they can be brought indoors to grow on a sunny window sill or under a grow light. They need ample sunlight, great drainage, and infrequent water to prevent rot.
