Senecio scaposus

Senecio scaposus (now Caputia scaposa) (Nord. & Pelser): Long, bean-like leaves with a silvery, woolly covering. This coating helps protect the leaves from the full sun of its native South African habitat, and it needs similarly bright sun in cultivation. The woolly coating can be rubbed off with shipping and handling; it will not grow back but new foliar growth will eventually replace the damaged leaves. This species produces yellow, daisy-shaped blooms in summer. Also known as Silver Coral.

Soft succulents will not survive a hard frost, but if there is a risk of freezing temperatures they can be brought indoors to grow on a sunny window sill or under a grow light. They need bright sunlight, great drainage, and infrequent water to prevent rot.
